Can hot melt adhesive powder dissolve in cold water?

Hot melt adhesive powder cannot be directly dissolved in cold water, but it can be expanded and softened by slowly absorbing water. According to its physical properties, hot melt adhesive powder belongs to industrial gelatin, and its main component is collagen hydrolyzate. Its molecular structure determines that cold water cannot completely dissolve it, but it can make its volume expand 5-10 times after absorbing water to form a gel-like substance. If it is to be completely dissolved, it needs to be soaked in cold water for 40-60 minutes to fully absorb water and expand, and then it is gradually melted by indirect heating to below 75°C to form a uniform glue solution. Direct use of cold water or unheated cold water treatment can only achieve physical softening, and cannot reach the dissolved state. If hot water is used for direct soaking by mistake, it will cause the glue powder to agglomerate or not completely dissolve. Therefore, the dissolution process of hot melt adhesive powder must strictly follow the steps of "cold water soaking + indirect heating" to ensure the viscosity and performance of the glue solution.
